This ain’t Auckland
“I am here, because they can afford me. Can you afford me?”
This is Karangahape Road . One of the earliest streets of Auckland's 1841 emergence.
Architect-ish poet Gabi Maffey presents ‘this ‘ain’t auckland’ : a show that personifies karangahape’s heritage buildings as jilted, old and looking for love! Just trying to get back out there...probably will get some work done, like sister Ponsony... or else could become totally worthless! What does Vicky B, and other local Victorian Buildings think of the Karangahape construction in 2021?
“I'm not crying, I'm leaking”
...old walls use concrete and plaster on the outside, to appear as if carved from a solid block of stone.
That’s not true, painted over clean. Between the flat whites, and the white flats..
there is! Auckland’s concrete stone! poured,
hardened as a natural conclusion.
…..“when a legacy becomes wanted, who gets to live there then?”
Gabi Maffey personifies historic walls of 2021. Like one big showroom.
“I am here, because they can afford me. Can you afford me?”
