An extraordinary Meeting
The Urban Growth Agenda is government policy in New Zealand but what does that mean for us? Should we replace our houses and gardens with high rise blocks or sprawl outwards? You will form a council and in an extraordinary meeting resolve on a notice of motion to allow taller buildings in the city and increase expansion of the urban limit. (This is the demand of the National Policy Statement on Urban Planning gazetted in August 2020). You must shape a resolution that will result in a good outcome for everyone including future generations.
To help you, experts alive and dead will reveal their perspectives on how to make cities work – but for whom and for what? It is up to you to ask the hard questions. Along the way, the testimonies of Aucklanders reveal real people’s hopes and dreams and show how legacy decisions have made an impact for good and bad.
